As reported by Nature in their study “Machine Learning in Optimization of Nonwoven Fabric Bending Rigidity in Spunlace Production Line,” researchers have applied artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to enhance the production efficiency and quality of spunlace nonwoven fabrics. These fabrics, widely used in medical, hygiene, and industrial applications, are valued for their softness, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
The study utilized an artificial neural network (ANN) model to predict how different manufacturing parameters affect fabric properties such as bending rigidity and basis weight. Additionally, a genetic algorithm (GA) optimization was employed to find the ideal production settings, ensuring stronger, more flexible fabrics while minimizing costs.
