Gravity Bed Filters

Gravity Bed Filters

Gravity Bed Filters are cost effective filtration machines because of their low upfront costs compared to magnetic options. Gravity bed filters are arguably the most common filtering machine and are used in surface grinding, honing, and cutting in coolant filtration. Other applications for gravity bed filters are processed food oil filtration, and parts of the process for waste water treatment.

Filter Media for Gravity Bed Filters

Gravity bed filters use filter media in a roll that allow the fluid to flow through with little to no pressure, only the force of gravity (hence the term “gravity bed filter”). In gravity bed filters, the solids help with filtration, landing on the roll media, providing an even finer filtration method.

Filter cake is formed when contaminants build up. When the filter cake reaches a point where filtration is not optimal, and the fluid is not going through at a fast-enough rate, a sensor in the gravity bed filter activates, and the filter roll media advances upward a few inches, and new filter media is introduced. The filter media advances automatically in the gravity bed filter and you control the timing based on the application.

The point of advancement of the roll allows the filter cake to dry and finally advance in to the waste area for disposal.

Features and Benefits

The design of these gravity filters keep your cutting, grinding, drilling, and milling machinery operating at peak performance while keeping the coolant free of swarf, dirt, chips, grit, and other machining by-products. Gravity filters greatly extend coolant life and save money on coolant replacement and labor costs.

Rugged, Durable Construction

This reliable Bed Filter Tank System is built to give years of service on your shop floor. Rugged, heavy-duty Bed Filter Tank System is available in 31, 41, 54 and 67 gallon tank sizes. Make the right decision for your shop floor—choose the high performance Bed Filter Tank System from Great Lakes Filters.

Extra-Strength Chain Links

Industrial strength chain links resist binding and offer trouble- and kink-free operation. Heavy center rods add durability and strength.

Float and Shut-off Mechanism

Specially designed float mechanism is engaged when the dirty fluids blind off the filter paper and a switch starts the motor. This moves the filter media along, and replaces it with clean filter media to allow the filtration process to continue automatically!
