As outlined in Scribd‘s article “Application of Technical Textiles,” woven fabrics are integral to the growing world of technical textiles. These materials are engineered for functionality over aesthetics and are widely used across industries including automotive, construction, filtration, healthcare, and geotextiles.
Woven fabrics are created by interlacing two sets of yarns—warp and weft—at right angles using either a handloom or power loom. The warp yarns are held under tension, while the weft yarns are woven through, forming a strong and stable fabric. Natural fibers like cotton and wool or synthetics such as nylon and polyester can be used, depending on the end application.
